Low Sizergh Hall Barn and Farm is the last stop when leaving the Lake District on the way back to the M6, so it is always a tempting place to stop for a quick coffee, pick up a bit of locally produced cheese for later, and of course, a pie to sustain myself for the long trip down the motorway.
Of the pies on offer I chose the Chicken, Ham and Leek., and quite a substantial pie it was too. From the outside, lovely crimped and decorated pastry. On the inside, the filling and chicken had a mild flavour with subtle hints of the ham and leek.
I was informed that all pies are made on premises from locally sourced produce, which is great as I like to support our local communities.
This was a good filler for my trip south and I will call again to try a different flavour next time and maybe explore some of the bolder offerings.
A good score of 8.2 for this tasty pie.
