The only mistake I made was to have a starter.
That was very apparent as soon as my main course arrived “Jet’s Steak and Kidney Pie”. There was enough to feed me for a couple of days and every bit of it looked (and tasted) magnificent!
The Jet Miners Inn is in the village of Great Broughton, North Yorkshire and ran by South African born Johan and his wife Elina from Latvia who made us very welcome after we arrived after a long walk along the nearby Cleveland Way.
It is traditional British Country Pub and Restaurant with a lot of oak panelling and a ‘snug’ for those that just want a drink and a catch up with friends.
The pie was filled to the brim with succulent steak. Only once before have I experienced this level of tenderness in a steak pie. And not just the steak, the kidney contrasted and complimented the flavour perfectly. The pie was made on site and had the tell-tale handmade crimping of the shortcrust pastry lid.
The chips and proper gravy were heavenly. I don’t really need to say anymore other than “I could eat here every night!”
A fantastic pie that I award a score of 8.9
